Our paper on “The velocity field due to an oscillating plate in an Oldroyd-B fluid” by Cameron Hopkins and John de Bruyn has been accepted for publication in the Canadian Journal of Physics. This paper is based on some of the work Cameron did for his fourth-year honors thesis last year.
Grace Ge successfully defended her Master’s thesis this afternoon.Her thesis was entitled “Rheology of solutions of polyisoprene and polyisoprene-carbon nanotube composites.”
I spent yesterday at the first Waterloo Soft Matter Conference, held at the Perimeter Institute. It was a very interesting one-day meeting, with many excellent talks on talks ranging from topological defects to the viscoelastic properties of worms. I hope the organizers decide to have another one.
